Top o' the Mornin'

 

St. Patrick's Day is a HUGE deal around here on the southside of Chicago. It feels like the celebrations start on March 1st and runs through March 31st. It's never ending. Here is one of my favorite writing activities we do every year. The kids write about their lucky day.

This is a new one we did this year. The kids wrote about what they would do if they found a pot of gold. I love their answers - buy a castle or spend all the money in Disney World. This project is from Molly over at Lucky to be in First. She has a ton of awesome projects on her TPT sight. 

 

We've also been working on Dr. Seuss projects this week too. My firsties can't get enough of his stories. We went ahead and made these cute cupcakes for him and we listed our favorite Dr. Seuss books on the hats. They turned out really cute. I found these cute cupcakes from Linda Kamp on TPT. And finally, this boards sums it up in a nutshell. My favorite second grade teacher came up with this board for our hallway. It's adorable and sooooo true.  

So, the weekend is just around the corner and hopefully so is a little warmer weather so our lovelies can get outside to burn off all their cooped up energy!!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!



What a week we had at school. We did several Dr. Seuss activities and the kids loved it (so did I)! The fish was a glyph from the Glyph Girls, however, I find it easier not to do it as a glyph. Sometimes the kids just don't get the glyph. So we tweeked it a little and they turned out cute. Our other favorite was the Lorax. Since the movie was coming out we decided to make this guy. I found him from Elizabeth at Miss Delk's blog. She has some awesome Dr. Seuss things on her tpt. Sorry about the Dr. Seuss bulletin board being such a bad picture. The sun is always on that corner of the room. Next week I am still going to do some more Dr. Seuss things, there is so much stuff to do.

Besides all this going on we had some really bad news at school. Our principal's 25 year old daughter passed away. She had been very sick. Thank goodness we are a catholic school, the prayers were going all week. Next week is going to be a tuff one too, with the funeral. Hopefully things will calm down soon.  Anyway, thanks for stopping by.



Seuss Week

As much fun as Dr. Seuss is I am ready to move on. Today we read Yertle the Turtle and they really got into the story. The kids felt bad for the turtle on the bottom of the pile, Mack. We went ahead and made our own turtles. I saw the idea over at Erica Bohrer's blog and I just had to do this one. Now on to more irish activities. Thanks for stopping by.

Seuss Week

Everyone loves a cat. The Cat in the Hat, I mean. We are having a great time reading Dr. Seuss stories and doing a few projects. These hats turned out cute. The kids wrote their favorite Dr. Seuss books on the stripes. As soon as we are done with one book they are asking what the next book is that we are reading.
