Staley, the Chicago Bears Mascot Visit

What a treat this was! Staley, the Chicago Bear's Mascot came to our school for an assembly. He was a riot and the whole school loved him. He came to challenge the kids to do a 6 week fitness program. There are lots of great prizes to those who complete the challenge. So hopefully the kids and parents are on board with the challenge.

Pete the Cat

As I was browsing all the awesome blogs out there I came across this project from Leslie Ann at Life in First Grade. I thought it was so adorable that I just had to do it in my class and I already had the book. The kids had a blast singing the song so much that we walked around and sang it to several of the other classes. Since the colors of their shoes were a little different from the ones in the book we came up with our own words. If you don't have this book it is a must. You can even log onto the aurthor's site and he reads the story on line.
I am so grateful that so many awesome teachers share their wonderful ideas and projects on line. We've always said teaching is all about beg, borrowing and stealing. Thanks for stopping by.

What timing! We were working on our snowglobes, making a snowman glyph and writing about how to make a snowman, and reading about Snowflake Bentley
(not all at the same time) when it started snowing outside. The kids were so excited that we just had to go out and see if we could catch snowflakes on black paper and examine them. Some of them were lucky enough to actually see the different pattern of the flakes. I just love these pictures of the kids looking closely at the flakes. They were having a blast and really got to see that all snowflakes are different. It was a blast.

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Happy New Year and welcome back to school! We started back on Wednesday and I was glad to see kids. They seemed happy to be back too. I was so busy over break surfing blogs and putting together different units I came across. I came across quite a few incredible teacher's blogs and was so excited about all the projects they post and share. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I made many of the center activities which the kids loved. This bulletin board is an idea which came from the snowman unit from Mrs. Jump's blog. It turned out so cute and my students had fun with it. We did several of the ideas from her unit. They were a blast to do.
Thanks for stopping by, more to come soon.
